Why so much Oklahoma tornado coverage about dogs?

Natural disaster coverage often has a story or two about pets, but I’ve never seen as much as with the Moore tornado. Since the government doesn’t allow a good crisis go to waste, I believe that at least some of the coverage is staged and the dog stories seem particularly suspicious. For your consideration, some video coverage of dogs that survived the Moore, Oklahoma tornado:

Very few victims were photographed with bloody scratches on their faces. Therefore, it’s kind of strange that both of these folks have them.

So many heart-wrenching stories. Are they just good for ratings, or is there a larger agenda behind them?
