From The American Dream, Why Are The Chinese Gobbling Up Real Estate And Businesses In Detroit?
Right now, there are approximately 78,000 abandoned buildings in Detroit and about one-third of the entire city is either vacant or derelict…
News of the bankruptcy, coupled with a Chinese TV report in March that claimed you could buy two houses in Detroit for the same price as a pair of leather shoes, has piqued investors’ interest…
Of course this is not just happening in Detroit. The truth is that the Chinese are buying up real estate, businesses and natural resources all over the country.
But they seem to have a particular interest in Detroit…
Dozens of companies from China are putting down roots in Detroit, part of the country’s steady push into the American auto industry.
Chinese-owned companies are investing in American businesses and new vehicle technology, selling everything from seat belts to shock absorbers in retail stores, and hiring experienced engineers and designers in an effort to soak up the talent and expertise of domestic automakers and their suppliers.
While starting with batteries and auto parts, the spread of Chinese business is expected to result eventually in the sale of Chinese cars in the United States…
I can’t imagine what that will mean for the future of Detroit and the U.S.
From the Washington Times, Obama’s scheme to take over Texas, Overruling the Supreme Court on voting rights is the start:
…just a few months ago, high-ranking Obama operatives launched a campaign to “turn Texas blue.” The administration’s foray into Texas voting rights litigation is just another page in that political playbook…
The president’s partisan use of the Voting Rights Act actually hurts many minority voters in Texas. With the administration’s support, redistricting litigation already has unseated Texas state Reps. Jose Aliseda, Raul Torres, Aaron Pena and John Garza, as well as U.S. Rep. Quico Canseco. These representatives — all Republicans — won in 2010 in predominantly Hispanic districts. In 2011, however, the Obama administration and other partisan interest groups succeeded in getting a court to draw district lines so that only a Democrat could win these seats. As a direct result, all of these Republican Hispanic representatives lost their seats in 2012 except for Mr. Aliseda, who chose not to run for re-election. His district had been dismantled altogether at Democrats‘ request…
The president’s attempt to put Texas’ elections under his thumb also disrupts the constitutional balance between federal and state governments. The Constitution makes elections the states’ business, not the federal government’s.
Imagine a political party putting the needs of the voters above its desire to win. Imagine an administration actually obeying laws it doesn’t like. I still think this president could never have won without cheating, even with the lousy candidates he was running against.
From Dave Hodges, You Can Lead a Sheep to Knowledge, but You Can’t Make Them Think:
I asked my friend if he knew that American citizens for any reason, or for no reason whatsoever could be detained under the NDAA and sent to a FEMA Camp? He said that the government would never use this law against American citizens. Then I showed him a leaked document in which KBR was telling its subcontractors to be prepared within 72 hours of notification to provide essential services to FEMA camps such as the installation of barbwire, blockades, personnel, food, water and sanitation services.
One of his readers had an email exchange with a KBR manager who insisted that the government intended to use the camps for first responders to natural disasters. If that’s the case, why the barbed wire? Mr. Hodges provides a lengthy argument, including links and videos, for his belief that FEMA camps will be used for securing civilian detainees.
By the way, Black Hat USA 2013 is wrapping up in Las Vegas:
The Black Hat Briefings have become the biggest and the most important security conference series in the world by sticking to our core value: serving the information security community by delivering timely, actionable security information in a friendly, vendor-neutral environment.
And this, US national debt is actually $70 trillion.
Is this country changing right before our eyes?
