From the L.A. Times:
Festival-goers can be seen on a video dancing to electronic music and cheering as a man becomes engulfed in flames during West Hollywood’s annual Halloween carnival.
Gilbert Estrada, 51, later died. The video posted on YouTube shows him lying unresponsive after the fire was extinguished. Detectives say it appears Estrada may have accidentally started the fire while trying to light a cigarette.
As Estrada flails, some bystanders can be heard cheering. Others help put out the flames.
Are the cheering onlookers heartless, evil, or just stupid? What has become of our society? Perhaps the Burning Man Festival is an indication. It is the promotion of the individual with no acknowledgement of God. See their Ten Principles. People are different when God is involved:
From USA Today:
“While I was holding her, listening to their questions, I just prayed,” the bus driver said. “Whatever was on her mind, it had her. It really, really had her.”
The bus driver, Darnell Barton, is right. People are being influenced, and some taken over, by evil. It’s spewed at us through the media, particularly the entertainment industry, and our society is bombarded by it night and day. As God is being pushed out, evil is moving in.
Nevertheless, try as they might to push God out, God alone is God and everything else is merely God’s creation. In the end, God wins. And it’s always better to be on the winning team.
Another person on fire, this time in Oakland. Man set on fire while sleeping on AC Transit bus:
Investigators were trying Tuesday to locate a suspect who intentionally set an AC Transit passenger on fire the evening before in Oakland, according to police…
“He was asleep,” Oakland police spokeswoman Johnna Watson said. “He woke up and his clothes were on fire.”
The teen suffered second and third degree burns.
