I suggest viewers urge Congress not to interfere in a legitimate business transaction. From Times Leader:
The Weather Channel asked its viewers Saturday to urge Congress to intervene in its business dispute with DirecTV, arguing that it can harm public safety if the satellite system pulls the network off the air for nearly 20 million viewers.
David Clark, president of The Weather Channel, said Saturday he has no problem essentially equating his television network to a public utility. The Weather Channel is part of the NBC Universal stable of networks and is owned by Comcast Corp., the nation’s largest cable company.
“Yes, it is a privately held company and a for-profit” enterprise, Clark said. “That’s OK. What also happens to be true is that we have a mission to serve.”
What a bunch of whiny babies. Is The Weather Channel looking for public funding? I wouldn’t be surprised. The channel is one of the leading proponents of so-called climate change. Is that why they say they’re doing the public a service? Will they become the PBS of weather – unwanted but publicly funded?
As the article points out, there is no lack of weather coverage except, perhaps, on The Weather Channel:
DirecTV spokesman Robert Mercer said that the satellite service launched its own service, Weather Nation, in response to consumer complaints about the amount of reality programs that The Weather Channel airs instead of weather forecasting.
Local weather information is also available on local network affiliates offered by DirecTV, and during severe weather, the system also makes its emergency channels available for weather programming, he said.
The Weather Channel does seem to be less concerned with the nation’s safety than with their ability to spew their climate change propaganda as far and wide as possible. From fastcoexist.com:
So how does an organization that reports on the weather insert itself into the debate without getting political? Just take a look at the Weather Company, the parent company of the Weather Channel and Weather Underground.
“We insert climate into every weather story,” says David Kenny, CEO of the Weather Company. “We’re scientific journalists. We start with science and try to tell scientifically based stories. It’s not a political point of view.”
It is political. Not everyone believes their climate change theories. As the article states:
TV meterologists have become infamous in recent years for their reticence to discuss climate change–and in some cases, for their lack of belief in climate change at all. One TV storm tracker in San Diego (who also happens to be a co-founder of the Weather Channel) went so far recently as to say that global warming is a “fictional, manufactured crisis.”
Climate change is all about the UN agenda to take control and redistribute wealth. The climate changes. Get over it and enjoy life, instead of promoting a system that wants to eliminate most of humanity. See this article from China Daily that uses a UN report to justify its “family planning policy”. In part, it states:
Population and climate change are intertwined but the population issue has remained a blind spot when countries discuss ways to mitigate climate change and slow down global warming, according to Zhao Baige, vice-minister of National Population and Family Planning Commission of China (NPFPC) .
Back to the fastcoexist article:
Plenty of people get their weather reports from the Weather Company’s TV shows, apps, and websites.
Therefore, they don’t need to have The Weather Channel on DirectTV, do they?
This is another example of the fact that this country leans to the right. Every time an entertainer, television show or station moves too far to the left, it loses fans (example: where’s Oprah?). Most Americans reject leftist propaganda when they recognize it. However, it’s time for us to speak out against the agenda before they make it impossible for us to make our own decisions and to live as we’d like.
Let’s start by making sure The Weather Channel doesn’t convince its leftist Congressional friends that they need to spend our assets (their time and our money) to continue their dissemination of agenda-driven theories.
