Vladimir Putin, the wealthiest man in the world?

From a 2012 report by the Bureau of Investigative Journalism:

Stanislav Belkovsky, a political analyst, claims Putin could be worth as much as $70bn, a figure that would make him the richest man in the world…

This extraordinary sum is based on claims that Putin owns shares in three major oil and gas companies.

In addition:

As president, Putin will have access to the presidential yacht…It has six luxury cabins, wine cellar, jacuzzi, barbecue and other luxuries.

And:

Putin has been photographed wearing around £160,000 of wrist wear.  A remarkable feat for a man who earns, before tax, £80,000.

If my calculations are correct, that’s about $266,000 worth of watches.

There are also reports that Putin may own this home. At the least, he sometimes stays there:

A 2012 report from BornRich states:

[Putin has] access to Presidential perks including four grand yachts, 20 homes with opulent fittings, 58 aircrafts with one Russian-made Ilyushin Presidential jet with a $75,000 toilet…has a total of 20 palatial residences…and 700 Ultra-luxurious vehicles.

My reason for bringing this up is twofold: a) it’s news to me, and b) my question as to whether anyone can acquire this type of wealth without being a pawn for the new world order. Considering what’s happening in the Ukraine, it seems a reasonable question. Have Russian leaders been stealing the money for these things from their people? Or are they being paid to play the NWO game?
